Special Recognition
Daily Bread is able to fulfill its mission of feeding the hungry on the Champaign-Urbana community because of the generosity of so many individuals and organizations and businesses. We would like to recognize some businesses that support our endeavors.
1. El Toro Mexican Restaurant: El Toro provides us with a complete taco dinner for all our guests the third Tuesday of every month. Known affectionately as “Taco Tuesday” by both guests and volunteers, the tacos, rice, refried beans plus ‘fixings’ are a huge hit and a great treat!
2. Sonic Drive-In: Sonic brings a hot dog meal the second Monday of every month.
3. Arby’s: Arby’s will be bringing an Arby’s meal on the third Thursday of the month beginning in 2012.
4. Eastern Illinois Food Bank: We have volunteers who go to the foodbank every day and bring back produce, breads, desserts, drinks, and a wealth of other food at a fraction of what this food would cost us in a traditional grocery store.
5. Gordon Food Service: Gordon Food Service donates a huge amount of produce and dairy products that allow us to serve our guests healthy salads and fresh vegetables.
6. Urbana Garden Restaurant: Urbana Garden keeps our soup pots bubbling with delicious soups.
7. LePeep Restaurant: LePeep Restaurant donates soup for Tuesday’s soup pots.
8. Newman Hall Cafeteria: Newman Hall donates left-over entrees which are so good that they clearly repudiate all the negative tales college kids tell about dorm food!
